Job Opening: 2nd Solo Trumpet Player
Copenhagen Phil is seeking a highly skilled 2nd Solo Trumpet Player to fill a 100% permanent position.
The trumpet section consists of a Principal Trumpet and two equal 2nd Solo Trumpets, with obligations to perform 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trumpet parts.
Audition Details
- Date: Wednesday, December 17, 2025
- Time: 10:00 AM
- Location: The Concert Hall at The Royal Danish Academy of Music, Rosenørns Allé 22, 1970 Frederiksberg C
- Tuning: 442 Hz
- An accompanist will be provided.
Repertoire
1st Round
- J. Haydn: Trumpet Concerto in E-flat major, Hob.VIIe:1; 1st movement until bar 117
- G. Bizet: Carmen, number 9 until 9 bars after number 11
- H.C. Lumbye: Galop from “Livjægerne på Amager“
Note: All pieces in the 1st round must be performed on a Perinet B-flat trumpet. Rotary trumpets are not permitted in this round.
2nd Round
- A. Honegger: Intrada
Note: The 2nd round piece must be performed on a C trumpet. Both Perinet and rotary trumpets are allowed in this round.
Final Round
- Orchestral excerpts and possible excerpts with the trumpet section.
Application Process & Timeline
Shortly after the application deadline, the jury will review all applicants and place them into one of three groups:
- Direct invitation to the 1st round
- Invitation to a pre-round via video submission
- Not invited
Key Dates:
- Application Deadline: November 2, 2025
- November 6, 2025: All applicants will be notified of their status.
- Video Submission Deadline: November 20, 2025 (for those invited to the pre-round)
- November 26, 2025: Candidates who submitted a video will be informed if they are invited to the 1st round.
Salary & Employment
Salary and conditions are negotiable in accordance with the current agreement for musicians in the Danish Regional Orchestras.
Please Note: Employment for non-EU residents is contingent upon obtaining a valid work and residence permit. Applicants are responsible for any costs associated with securing these permits.
