Assistant Conductor (2 positions)
L’Opéra national de Nancy-Lorraine is one of seven national operas in France. With a budget exceeding 16 million euros, it welcomes more than 80,000 spectators each season, 20,000 schoolchildren, and delivers 100 curtain raises both in-house and externally. It comprises a team of 180 permanent staff including administrative, technical, orchestra musicians, and chorus artists.
Since 2019, led by director Matthieu Dussouillez, the Opera has implemented a European and civic project entitled Opéra Citoyen.
Positions Available
The Opéra national de Lorraine is recruiting assistant conductors for the 2026/2027 season. Two posts are available across two periods:
- Position 1: 31 August 2026 to 30 January 2027 (inclusive)
- Position 2: 15 February 2027 to 3 July 2027 (inclusive)

- Short cover letter in French indicating availability for Period 1, Period 2, or both
- Video recording with orchestra or ensemble (10 minutes – 2 contrasting pieces)

Audition Details
The audition will be held on Tuesday 26 May 2026 in person.
Elimination rounds:
First round: Work with the orchestra in French on repertoire to be communicated to pre-selected candidates.
Second round: Interview with the jury in French.
