Junior Fellow in French Horn – RNCM

The Royal Northern College of Music is recruiting a Junior Fellow in French Horn for the Academic Year 2026/2027.

This position offers the opportunity to gain experience within the RNCM’s diverse range of orchestras and ensembles, while developing professional connections externally. The Orchestral Junior Fellowships are salaried positions, with up to 400 hours of ensemble or school-based activity.

Activities

Fellows may perform in Opera, Symphony Orchestra, Manchester Contemporary Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Repertoire Orchestras, or internal workshop activities. World-class conductors and directors are regularly invited, and professional players are embedded within ensembles.

Additional duties may include playing in weekly conducting classes, participating in school-based workshops, Chamber Music activity, and recruitment events at the discretion of the Head of School.

Requirements

Candidates should have a solid orchestral background from conservatoire or university training, demonstrate professional etiquette, and arrive to rehearsals well prepared. Mentor support will be provided by relevant key staff.
