Junior Fellow in Oboe – RNCM

The Royal Northern College of Music is recruiting a Junior Fellow in Oboe (doubling Cor Anglais as required) for the Academic Year 2026/2027.

This position provides the opportunity to gain experience within the RNCM’s diverse orchestras and ensembles, while developing professional connections externally. The Orchestral Junior Fellowships are salaried positions, with up to 400 hours of ensemble or school-based activity.

Activities

Fellows may perform in Opera, Symphony Orchestra, Manchester Contemporary Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Repertoire Orchestras, or internal workshop activity. World-class conductors and directors are regularly invited, and professional players are embedded within ensembles to expand networking opportunities.

Additional duties may include playing in weekly conducting classes, school-based workshops, and Chamber Music activity, as well as recruitment activities and administrative duties at the Head of School’s discretion.

Requirements

Candidates should have a solid orchestral background from conservatoire or university training, arrive fully prepared for rehearsals, and demonstrate professional standards. Mentor support will be provided by relevant key staff.
