Junior Fellow in Tenor Trombone – RNCM
The Royal Northern College of Music is recruiting a Junior Fellow in Tenor Trombone for the Academic Year 2026/2027.
This position offers the successful candidate an opportunity to gain experience within the RNCM’s diverse range of orchestras and ensembles, while developing professional connections externally. The Orchestral Junior Fellowships are salaried positions, with up to 400 hours of ensemble or school-based activity per year.
Activities
Fellows may perform in Opera, Symphony Orchestra, Manchester Contemporary Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Repertoire Orchestras, or internal workshop activities. World-class conductors and directors are regularly invited, and professional players are embedded within ensembles, providing valuable networking opportunities.
Additional duties may include playing in weekly classes for conducting students, supporting school-based workshops, and participating in Chamber Music activities and recruitment events at the discretion of the Head of School.
Requirements
Candidates should have a solid foundation of orchestral experience from conservatoire or university training, arrive to rehearsals prepared and on time, and demonstrate professional etiquette. Mentor support will be provided by relevant key staff.
