Overview

The Guiyang Symphony Orchestra (GYSO) invites applications for the position of Associate Principal Percussion. Auditions are scheduled for August 2026 in Guiyang, China.

Audition Repertoire

  • One concerto movement: the first movement of a Classical-period concerto (for violin, woodwind and french horn, a work by Mozart must be chosen)
  • Orchestral excerpts (without cadenza)

Requirements

  • Professional music education required
  • Aged between 20 and 45
  • Solid performing skills and orchestral experience
  • Able to rehearse and communicate in English
  • Open to applicants of any nationality and gender

Salary

Structure: monthly salary plus extra salary.

Monthly salary (pre-tax):

  • Sectional Principal: ≥ RMB 15,000
  • Sectional Associate Principal: ≥ RMB 12,000
  • Sectional player: ≥ RMB 10,000
  • Fresh-graduate player: negotiable

Extra salary:

  1. Year-end bonus: calculated and paid at year end based on position and overall performance, using one month’s salary as the standard.
  2. Box-office share: paid each quarter according to concert box-office income and the relevant qualifying standards.
  3. Commercial-concert allowance: paid according to the actual monthly commercial performances.
  4. Annuity bonus: granted according to the player’s contribution to the GYSO Music School and GYSO Youth Orchestra and years of service, with an annual benefit from the annuity.

Salary is paid over twelve months per year. When all orchestra policies and regulations are met, the player’s total annual salary (monthly plus extra) will rise appreciably.
