The National Symphony Orchestra Ireland (NSOI) is seeking to appoint a Principal 1 Clarinet.
About the Role
The successful candidate will sit No. 2 Clarinet with a doubled E-flat liability and the responsibility to step up to lead the section on a first-call basis. The appointee will provide the highest standard of orchestral playing and work in accordance with NSOI policy.
Candidates should possess significant orchestral experience and demonstrate excellence in performance at a high professional standard. NSOI will also consider candidates in the early stages of their career who can show the potential to fulfil the role.

- Live auditions: 6 & 7 September 2026, Dublin
Audition Repertoire
- Mozart Clarinet Concerto — 1st movement, exposition only (no cadenza)
- A contrasting piece of the candidate’s own choice
- Excerpt pack — to be circulated in due course
