Principal Flute — Tapiola Sinfonietta

The Tapiola Sinfonietta invites applications for the position of Principal Flute. Situated in Espoo, Finland, the orchestra is renowned internationally as one of Finland’s premier chamber ensembles.

Role Description

Together with the sub-principal, the Principal Flute leads the section with artistry and visionary musicianship, working in close collaboration with the concertmasters and other section leaders. The principal bears responsibility for the quality of ensemble playing within the flute section, ensuring a fair and balanced distribution of work among its members, while maintaining a high standard of soloistic readiness.

Auxiliary Instruments

The position includes an obligation to perform on the following instruments: piccolo, alto flute, and wooden flute.

Additional Responsibilities

Audience engagement and chamber music in smaller formations are integral to the Tapiola Sinfonietta’s mission and to each musician’s professional duties.
