The Vratsa Symphony Orchestra announces an opening for the position of Principal Viola (Temporary). The orchestra is seeking a highly skilled and motivated musician to lead the viola section on a temporary basis, with the contract duration to be agreed with the administration.

Requirements

Advanced conservatory studies (bachelor’s or master’s level or equivalent); strong sight-reading and ensemble performance skills; ability to adapt across styles and repertoire (classical, romantic, contemporary); and proven orchestral and/or chamber music experience (evidence required). Additional relevant experience will be considered.

Audition Format

1st Round — Video Submission: A solo piece plus orchestral excerpts (minimum 3) chosen from: Mozart Symphony No. 35 (4th mvt., mm. 134–181); Brahms Symphony No. 2 (1st mvt., mm. 114–136); Shostakovich Symphony No. 5 (1st mvt., No. 15–17); Brahms Variations on a Theme by Haydn (Variation V); Beethoven Symphony No. 3 (3rd mvt., opening to m. 166); Mendelssohn A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Scherzo (mm. 17–93); or Ravel Daphnis et Chloé, Suite No. 2 (mm. 158–166).

2nd Round: Online interview.

Final Round: Trial period.
