Key Dates
- Applications open: Monday 11 May 2026
- Excerpts released for live auditions: Monday 29 June 2026 (or four weeks prior to a confirmed recording date)
- Applications close: Monday 13 July 2026, 4pm
- Final deadline for recorded submissions: Two days following a confirmed recording date, but no later than Tuesday 14 July 2026
- Audition date: Monday 27 July 2026
This role is open to international candidates. If applicants are unable to travel to Hobart, the TSO will accept recorded auditions. The position is available from January 2027.
Audition Requirements
All set works are to be performed with piano accompaniment. Please note that TSO tunes to A=440.
- 1st round: Mozart concerto — 1st movement exposition and cadenza
- 2nd round: Strauss — 1st movement up to figure 5
- 3rd round: Strauss — 2nd movement opening until figure 24, then cadenza through to the first beat of Vivace
