Principal Oboe – Trondheim Symfoniorkester & Opera
Trondheim Symphony Orchestra & Opera, under chief conductor Adam Hickox, invites highly qualified candidates to apply for the position of principal oboist. The orchestra is looking for an orchestral musician with strong leadership and communication skills.
Audition Details
- Application deadline: Monday, 14 December 2026
- Audition dates: 14 and 15 January 2027
- Venue: Olavshallen, Trondheim
- Salary: NOK 779,456 – 888,901 per year, with incremental rises based on seniority
Auditions are by invitation only. TSO does not cover accommodation or travel expenses.
Audition Repertoire
Round 1
- Mozart: Oboe Concerto in C major, KV 314 – 1st movement, Allegro aperto, without cadenza
- Excerpt – Brahms: Violin Concerto, Op. 77, 2nd movement Adagio, bars 1–32
Additional rounds
- Strauss: Oboe Concerto in D major – 1st movement, Allegro moderato, from the beginning to Lebhaft (Vivo, 10 bars before figure 12)

About the Orchestra
Established in 1909 and based at Olavshallen in Trondheim, TSO is one of Norway’s leading cultural institutions. The orchestra comprises 86 permanent musicians, with access to 90 players through its collaboration with the Trondheim Soloists. Trondheim Vokalensemble is also affiliated with the organisation, primarily for opera and choral works, and the Trondheim Symphonic Opera Choir takes part in opera productions. TSO presents roughly 40–45 productions each season, spanning Baroque to contemporary music and opera, alongside educational outreach and community engagement.
