Overview

Audition Repertoire: One movement from a concerto of the classical period (Mozart works are required for violin, woodwind, and French horn), plus orchestral excerpts (without cadenza).

A professional music education is required; candidates should be aged 20–45, with solid orchestral performing skills and experience, the ability to rehearse and communicate in English, and are welcome regardless of nationality or gender.

Salary

Compensation consists of a monthly base salary plus additional salary components.

  • Sectional Principal (monthly): ≥ RMB 15,000 (pre-tax)
  • Sectional Associate Principal (monthly): ≥ RMB 12,000 (pre-tax)
  • Sectional Player (monthly): ≥ RMB 10,000 (pre-tax)
  • Fresh graduate: negotiable

Additional salary components include: a year-end bonus calculated on position and overall performance (one month’s salary as the standard); a quarterly box office share based on concert revenue; a commercial concerts allowance paid in line with actual monthly commercial performances; and an annuity bonus reflecting contributions to the GYSO Music School and GYSO Youth Orchestra and length of service. Salary is paid across twelve months per year; players who meet all relevant orchestra standards may see their total annual remuneration appreciably exceed the base figures above.
