$75,000-83,000 starting salary

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Perform in the Jazz Ambassadors of the United States Army Field Band
Tour approximately 80-100 days per year in the U.S. and abroad
Perform in various small groups (Traditional Jazz Band, Modern Jazz Piano Trio, etc.)
Contribute to innovative performances for broadcast audiences, live events, and educational outreach
Learn and refine new skills as desired in multimedia production, marketing, music education, and more
QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional performance level on upright acoustic bass and electric bass
Proficiency in various musical styles and sight-reading
Knowledge and experience with performance in both Big Band and small group ensembles
Ability to meet Army height/weight standards
Civilian applicants must be 17-34 years of age or up to 42 with a waiver
U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)

The live preliminary round will take place at Fort Meade, MD on June 2, 2025. All travel, lodging, and meals will be at applicant expense. Select applicants will be advanced to the semi-final and final rounds on June 3, 2025.
Military personnel must be eligible for a PCS, submit an Intent to Release memorandum from the unit Commander, and submit a Soldier Talent Profile (STP) or equivalent. Questions regarding the audition may be sent to usarmyfieldbandauditions@army.mil.

About United States Army Field Band
THE UNITED STATES ARMY FIELD BAND is the Department of the Army’s premier touring musical representative. Its mission is to develop positive connections on behalf of the U.S. Army, the Department of Defense, and the United States through live music and multimedia performances, media, television productions, and emergent technologies. The Field Band has appeared in all fifty states and in more than thirty countries on four continents. The organization’s five performing components, the Concert Band, Soldiers’ Chorus, Jazz Ambassadors, Commercial Music Group, and Six String Soldiers, each travel more than 100 days annually. Tours include formal public concerts, school assemblies, educational outreach programs, festivals, and radio and television appearances.
