Virginia Symphony Orchestra – VSO Cello Fellowship

Program Overview

The VSO Fellowship Program provides professional development for early-career, underrepresented musicians.

Fellowship Activities

VSO Fellows will participate in the breadth of work performed by the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, including:

  • Classics concerts
  • Pops concerts
  • Young People’s Concerts
  • Chamber Music
  • Mentorship and coaching for middle school, high school, and college students

Compensation & Benefits

  • Stipend: $21,500 for orchestra services and education work
  • Housing: Free housing provided
  • Education: Full scholarship to receive university-level course credit for Fellowship activities, conferred by Old Dominion University (culminating in a Graduate Certificate in Music Performance for those who qualify)

Eligibility

  • Graduate work or degree preferred
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States
