Viola, Violin

Introduction

Principal viola of the Gulf Coast Symphony, one of the largest community orchestras in America, since 1996, leading the viola section in both pop and classical formats, including numerous new music commissions.   Former member and principal viola of the Charlotte Symphony (11 years) in Port Charlotte.  Freelance violin and viola throughout Central West and Southwest Florida’s gig orchestras for pop, classical, and musicals since 1992.  Member and principal viola of the University of South Florida symphony, 1991-1996, and multiple performances of chamber works from Renaissance to modern masterworks.  Numerous performances of chamber masterworks and modern 20th century American works over the past 30 years in southwest Florida; a current project is the first recording and possibly the third performance ever of Roy Harris’ Concerto for String Sextet.  Notable teachers were Betty Haines, William Hayden, and Kathy Aagaard.  Since 2016 I’ve been playing a Luis & Clark carbon fiber viola.
