Introduction
Alyssa Nicole Samson is currently a student at The University of British Columbia studying Opera Performance. She has previously studied voice under the tutelage of Fabiana Katz, Edette Gagne, George (Geordie) Roberts, and is currently studying under Marisa Gaetanne. While specializing in classical and choral singing, she also sings pop and musical theatre. Alyssa has been recognized as a valued musician in the local community and has been rewarded for her achievements – she most recently competed as a finalist in the 2017 Vancouver International Music Competition.
Alyssa has sung with various groups including the Corpus Christi College Chamber Choir, the Capliano University Singers and currently sings with the UBC University Singers. She is also a vocalist and general manager of Wings Vocal Collective (WVC), a young-adult vocal ensemble that focusses on pop and R&B arrangements. With WVC, she has been featured on Global News TV, Vancouver Television and has recently competed in the semi-finals of the Varsity Vocal’s International Championship of A cappella Open in Tacoma, Washington.
Alyssa is a very focussed and passionate-driven individual and has acquired a skill set that enables her success in performance and teaching.
