Introduction
Andrew Szypula is from Philadelphia, PA and has lived in New Orleans, Louisiana since 2015. He received Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Percussion Performance from West Chester University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Music degree in Percussion Performance from Temple University under the tutelage of Chris Deviney and Alan Abel.
Andrew teaches percussion and directs athletic auxiliary ensembles at Tulane University. He designs the marching band shows and writes percussion music for Tulane, Temple University, and many other scholastic ensembles across the world from Philadelphia to Medellín, Colombia.
Mr. Szypula plays percussion around New Orleans including regular performances with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, the New Orleans Opera, and a bi-weekly appearance at Tickler’s Dueling Piano Bar on Bourbon Street. He has also performed with the Reading Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Camerata Symphony, the Pennsylvania Philharmonic, and the Philadelphia Academy Chamber Society.
