Introduction

Armando Nuñez … Its authenticity can be reflected in a certain degree of creative madness.

His interest in the violin begins unexpectedly when he accidentally listens to a television commercial where one was interpreted. Only this was enough so that at age 12 he decided to start his violin studies in the Juan José Landaeta Bolívar Youth Symphony Orchestra, under the leadership of José Zerpa.

Just one month after starting his formal studies on violin in the orchestra, he participated in his first concert. His perseverance, tenacity and self-taught ability led him to rapidly advance his studies, and in a few years he reached the position of Principal and, later, Concertino of the Youth Symphony Orchestra, Bolívar nucleus. With this orchestra he performed numerous concerts as a soloist, almost since the beginning of his studies.

His musical work in his hometown, earned him the opportunity to enter the National Children’s Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela and, subsequently, continue in the National Youth Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela.

He decides to continue his academic preparation with teachers Tarsicio Barreto and Francisco Díaz at the Vicente Emilio Sojo Conservatory of Music in Barquisimeto, Lara state. Once based in this city, he performs a successful audition and enters the Lara State Symphony Orchestra, where he served as a violinist for four years.

Simultaneously with his studies in the conservatory and activity in the orchestra, he works as a teacher in regular programs and adult education.

In 2005 he moved to Caracas where he continued his studies for a couple of years with Maestro Efraín Lara at the Simón Bolívar Conservatory, and then continued his formal instruction at the Latin American Violin Academy with teachers Sergio Celis and Richard Biaggini.

His musical performance earned him his participation in the Latin American Youth Orchestra conducted by maestro Claudio Abbado, who was considered the most important orchestra conductor of the contemporary era.

In parallel to his academic activity, he performs the audition with which he enters the violin line of the internationally known Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra.

Armando’s musical versatility is inherent in his versatile personality, adaptable and full of contrasts that are reflected in his style and preparation.

His concern and interest in knowing, learning and exploring the musical world has led him from being an inveterate self-taught, to a dedicated student of countless masterclass of outstanding national masters, such as José Francisco del Castillo, and international, such as Roberto Valdez, Felicitas Hofmeister, Ilya Gringolts, Alexis Cárdenas among others.

From his position in the violin line at the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, he has had the pleasure and privilege of being directed by teachers such as Alfredo Rugeles, Christian Vázquez and Gustavo Dudamel, in national and international presentations in which El Sistema has participated

His last international tour was in 2016 to Mexico as a member of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela with its principal director Diego Matheus.

Armando Nuñez’s career is a tangible reminder to new generations that the moment when you start your path to achieve a dream is not important, but the dedication, push and work you dedicate to your goals to achieve them. No goal is far, when the conviction to achieve it is strong enough.
