Introduction
Avner Geiger (b. 1982) is a highly regarded flutist who was born in Israel and currently resides in Berlin. He frequently performs with esteemed ensembles such as the Kammerakademie Potsdam, Deutsche Oper, Munich Chamber Orchestra, among others.
Offering lessons both in person as well as online. Including concentrated preparation for auditions and lesson formats suited to the student. Lessons in English/German or Hebrew.
Avner’s obtained his Diplom from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover with Prof. Andrea Lieberknecht, and before that a BA from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Additionally, he achieved an Excellence Diploma from the Conservatoire Aulney Sous-Bois in Paris, with Patrick Gallois, where he was awarded the Premier-Prix (first prize) with his graduation.
Avner further pursued his studies in early music, culminating in a master’s degree from the UDK Berlin.
Throughout his educational journey, Avner has had the privilege of learning from esteemed teachers such as Prof. Marten Root, Prof. Christoph Huntgeburth, Gudrun Hinze, Prof. Avner Biron, and Noam Buchman.
Avner’s professional musical journey began as a member of the acclaimed Israeli Camerata Jerusalem. Since then, he has been invited to perform as a guest flutist with prominent orchestras and ensembles worldwide such as Staatskapelle Berlin, Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
Avner is committed to the revival of “lost” music composed by artists who fell victim to Nazi prosecutions. He passionately endeavors to bring attention to these lesser-known works, allowing them to once more be heard.
In 2021, Avner’s efforts culminated in the release of his recordings titled “NEW LIFE.” These recordings were published by the label “Donemus Music.” Through these recordings, Avner aims to shed light on the hidden treasures of the past and grant these unfairly neglected works a new lease on life.
Avner has participated in numerous international festivals including the Adams flute festival 2023, and performed as a soloist with esteemed orchestras, including the Israel Camerata Jerusalem, the Czech Philharmonic, Tel-Aviv Soloists Ensemble, and more.
Avner has received scholarships from notable organizations such as the America-Israel Cultural Foundation, LMN-Yehudi Menuhin Foundation, Edelhoff-Ricklingen Foundation, and Musik Braucht Freunde Foundation.
Avner’s has participated in masterclasses conducted by leading flutists, including Emmanuel Pahud, Benoit Fromanger, Aurèle Nicolet, William Bennett, Peter Lukas-Graf, Michel Debost, and Felix Renggli.
Avner also devotes time to his personal projects, including solo and chamber music performances. Alongside his classical career, he explores songwriting and producing and has released 2 albums with his original music.
