Introduction
Prior to moving to Newfoundland in the summer of 2019, Caitlin Brown was an active part of the Central Florida music scene. She holds Bachelor degrees in both Music Performance and Music Education from Stetson University in DeLand, Florida and a Master of Music in Performance from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Since 2013, she has performed as a soloist at the Orfeo Music Festival in Italy, as well as in Belgium, England, Wales, and throughout the United States. In 2016, she was honored to place 2nd in the Orfeo International Music Competition. Over the years, Caitlin has been highly invested in expanding music education in her community. In her undergraduate studies, she helped found the American String Teachers Association chapter at Stetson University and built a classical concert series within the West Volusia public libraries. In 2017, she took over as director for the Stetson Youth String Orchestra- becoming the youngest director of the youth orchestra in its 20+ year history. She also maintained a teaching studio to service violin students in all of Volusia County. Her students regularly performed at All-County and All-State orchestras and at the Federation of Music Clubs Festival. Since relocating to Canada, she has been freelancing in the St. John’s area and performing with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra. She has recently been featured on VOCM Variety Hour and on Tourism Nova Scotia’s Stay Home Campaign.
