Introduction
A native of Austin TX, flutist Carlyn Hendler currently holds the 3rd flute/piccolo position with the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra as well as makes regular appearances with the Omaha Symphony flute section as a dependable and expressive substitute. Ms. Hendler made her concerto debut in 2015 with Omaha’s Heartland Philharmonic Orchestra in a performance of Lowell Liebermann’s Concerto for Piccolo. Carlyn is currently an Instructor of Flute at Schmitt Music and also maintains a private studio in the Omaha metro. Ms. Hendler is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Her previous teachers include Maria Harding, Christine Erlander Beard, and Seetha Shivaswamy. Miss Hendler guides young musicians on their journey to self-discovery by empowering them to go from reading notes to making music and thus finding their own voice. She is also a spirited advocate for helping flutists discover the beauty of the piccolo as well as the flute.
