Flute

Introduction

Interested in the performance of new work, in the possible interaction between interpreter and composer, and with certainty that each work will bring new challenges, in recent years, Clara Saleiro, flutist, has dedicated part of her work to contemporary music. In 2016, she cofounded Noviga Projekto, a flute and percussion duo, and in the same year, joined Vertixe Sonora Ensemble (Spain).

Clara collaborates with classical and symphonic orchestras, having played with orchestras in Portugal, Spain and in the United Kingdom. She plays regularly with Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa, a symphonic wind band, and she also loves doing chamber music.

Clara began to play the flute when she was eight years old at Academia de Música S. Pio X de Vila do Conde, in her hometown in Portugal. Throughout her musical career she studied at such renowned institutions of Portugal as Artave, ANSO-Metropolitana and Universidade de Aveiro. Additionally, she graduated in London at Royal Academy of Music and, afterwards, she studied at Stephanie Wagner’s flute studio.

Currently, Clara is taking a post graduation in Performance Practice in Contemporary Music at Kunstuniversität Graz (Austria) studying with members of Klangforum Wien.
