Introduction
Chicago based violinist Diane Yang is passionate about all aspects of music, from playing in intimate baroque and contemporary ensembles to massive orchestras. Hailing from but not native to Baltimore, Maryland, Yang has performed at college and concert halls all over the country including the John F. Kennedy Center, Maryland Hall for the Performing Arts, St. Paul’s Cathedral and Bryant Park in Manhattan. Yang has won numerous competitions in the Maryland/DC area and has soloed with the Northwestern Baroque Strings Ensemble, Contemporary Music Ensemble, Columbia Symphony and the Chesapeake Youth Symphony. Notable collaborations include Augusta Read Thomas, Steve Dann, Vera Beths, and the Dover Quartet.
Actively involved in arts administration, Yang has worked for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the University of Michigan’s international M-Prize Competition, University Musical Society, and Napa Valley Music Festival.
Yang is currently finishing her masters at Northwestern University under the tutelage of Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Blair Milton.
