Introduction
Double bassist Dominic Law has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Juilliard Orchestra, and Hong Kong Sinfonietta. As a solo performer, Mr. Law enjoys transcribing repertoire from different instruments onto the double bass, particularly those inspired by Chinese folk music. As a teaching artist, Mr. Law has held teaching fellow positions for the Music History, Music Theory and Analysis departments at Juilliard. He has also been the double bass fellow for the Juilliard Music Advancement Program (MAP), a Saturday conservatory-style program for students coming from diverse backgrounds underrepresented in classical music. Mr. Law hopes to inspire the next generation of music students to become better critical thinkers through music education.
Mr. Law is a second-year C.V. Starr Doctoral Fellow at Juilliard. His principal teachers include Joseph Conyers, Timothy Cobb, Hal Robinson and Rex Surany. In his spare time, Mr. Law enjoys watching soccer (football) and exploring restaurants in New York City.
