Introduction
Elizabeth Osorio was born in Medellin, Colombia. She received her Master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and her bachelor degree from Marcel Dupré Conservatory in France. Her major teachers include Alberto Almarza, Jeanne Baxtresser, Gilles Burgos and Francois Veilhan.
Some of her awards include, first place at the 2010 Alexander and Buono Flute competition in New York, in 2008 she won first prize at the Silberman Chamber Music Competition in Pittsburgh. She has performed as soloist at the Evry Summer Festival (France), Festival Ici et Demain La Sorbona Recital Hall in Paris, the Computer history museum in Los Angeles, California among others.
Ms Osorio is currently first flute of Medellin Philarmonic, She is working in Colombia as faculty member at the Antioquia University, where she has taught since 2006. Ms Osorio made her debut at Carnegie hall of New York in 2010, she has been invited to perform with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra in 2015 and she has colaborated as a co-principal flute with the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia.
