Introduction
As soon as I picked up a clarinet in middle school, I knew I’d study music in college. I’ve completed the full lifecycle of musicianship to the point of mentoring others; from auditioning for All-State Band and UMKC Conservatory, studying Music Education and Clarinet performance; performing a full graduate-level Clarinet recital, performing in chamber and full ensembles, to finally developing a small clarinet studio of first-time auditioners for All-District band and performers at solo & ensemble competition. The studio also included a beginner clarinet player of about 10 years old. These students grew immensely in the four semesters we worked together; my sophomore made the All-District alternate band and a “1” rating at solo & ensemble; my freshman received a “2” rating.
