Introduction
Gene took private violin lessons from age 5 through high school and participated in a number of youth orchestras. After high school, he took a long hiatus from the violin, but started up again in 2011 (this time on his own terms).
In 2014, Gene joined South Bay Philharmonic, a community orchestra based in Silicon Valley, where he was appointed to concertmaster by the music director after one season. He created and currently leads a string quartet group that meets weekly to work on repertoire and perform as part of SBP’s concert programs. In 2017, Gene performed the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with SBP, and won a seat in the Seoul International Community Orchestra which included an all-expense paid trip to Seoul with multiple performances at the Sejong Center.
Gene is available for orchestral, chamber music, and solo performance gigs.
