Introduction
George Berry has been the second trombonist of the Greenwich Village Orchestra since 2005, serving intermittently as acting principal. He has performed with the Astoria, Bronx, Central Jersey, Chelsea, One World, and South Shore symphony orchestras; the Orchestra of Saint Peter by the Sea; the Richmond Choral Society; the Staten Island Philharmonic; the Garden State, Regina, and Amore opera companies; the Wagner Society of New York; and the Garden State Philharmonic and Haddonfield (N.J.) Symphony Orchestra brass quintets. George was principal trombonist of both the Newton Symphony Orchestra in Massachusetts (where he also performed with the Plymouth Philharmonic), and the Ash Lawn Opera Festival Orchestra in Charlottesville, Va. He has performed with the Curtis Symphony Orchestra and with musicians from The Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as in orchestras for more than 50 musical and opera productions, including Windwood Theatricals’ U.S. and Canada tour of Bye, Bye, Birdie. George is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Music. His teachers have included Ronald Barron, Paul Bryan, Frank Crisafulli, James Gilbertsen, Mark Lawrence, and Michael Mulcahy.
