Introduction
Ipek Karataylioglu is a flute player from Istanbul, Turkey. She started her flute education in Turkey in Mimar Sinan State Conservatory. Vieri Bottazzini, her first teacher at the time taught her for seven years. After Mimar Sinan, she got accepted to Interlochen Arts Academy where she studied with Nancy Stagnitta. She attended Interlochen Arts Academy for her Junior and Senior year of high school and graduated with honors. Before she graduated she was chosen as a finalist in the Concerto Competition her second year of education in the Academy. In the summer of 2018, she auditioned for the National Flute Association’s High School Soloist competition and was chosen as a finalist. For her last year in Interlochen Arts Academy, her quintet got to compete in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Karataylioglu has performed in masterclasses with Andreas Blau, Jim Walker, and Davide Formisano. She is now in her second year at The Juilliard School in the studio of Robert Langevin. Since getting in she has been recognized by the YoungArts Foundation as an Honorable Mention. She has also been chosen as a finalist in the New York Flute Club Competition.
