Introduction

Oboist Jakob Combs is a Senior at South Laurel High School in London, Kentucky. Combs started his performance career on the oboe in 7th grade, and has been dedicated ever since. His hard work and dedication to his oboe have led him to many honors and achievements. Recently, Combs was selected for the Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts, class of 2020. Alongside performing in his schools Wind Symphony, and Symphonic Band, Combs travels to Lexington, Kentucky every week to perform with the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestras. Adding on, he was also selected to be the Principal Oboist of the University of the Cumberlands Wind Ensemble. Being a part of many ensembles, Jakob has also performed with many Honor bands including; University of The Cumberlands All-Festival Honor Band, Madison Central High School All-Regional Honor Band, and the 2019 Kentucky All-State Band. Jakob is currently a student under Dr. Julie Smith of Eastern Kentucky University
