Cello

Introduction

A native Texan artist who frequently teaches and performs in the greater Houston area.

I received my bachelor’s degree for Cello Performance from the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music, studying with renowned soloist Vagram Saradjian. During my education and following graduation, I have been teaching for 5 years in private lesson and group settings with students ranging in ages from 8 to 50 in Katy, Cypress, and Sugar Land. While many students participate in their school orchestras, I enjoy improvising on cello and introducing more musical styles (folk, pop, jazz) and musical arranging into my instruction as well. I have a special interest and concentration in performing contemporary music having performing over 30 works, many of which were world premieres. Around Houston I may be seen performing in weddings, church services, or accompanying theater. Additionally, I frequently sub with the Symphony of Southeast Texas in Beaumont, Texas.

In my spare time, I attend barre, pilates, and yoga classes to strengthen my mind and body for applying these techniques to performance. As of 2017, I became a supernumerary with Houston Grand Opera on the final installment of Wagner’s Ring Cycle, Götterdämmerung and in Oct. 2017, Handel’s Giulio Cesare.
I also enjoy practicing guitar, bass guitar, piano, and mandolin; practicing with my guitarist brother; or spending time with my cats, Boris and Kiki.
