Introduction
Kentucky native Dr. Kallie Snyder (formerly “Rogers”) is an active flutist, clinician, and music educator in Lexington, KY.
Dr. Snyder earned a doctorate in Flute Performance with a certificate in World Music at The Florida State University in 2015.
Upon completion of her terminal degree, Dr. Snyder remained in Tallahassee, FL where she built and maintained a large private flute studio, taught music theory and flute lessons at Mason’s School of Music; taught flute, piano, and recorder at Good Sam Arts where she also served as the Arts Program Coordinator and Camp Director; and was the flute instructor for the Leon High School Instrumental Lessons Academy.
Her students have performed in recitals and master classes, received Distinguished ratings in their district’s Solo & Ensemble Festival, ranked in All-State Band (1st chair Alabama, 2015), All-State Orchestra, and All-District Band, and have been accepted into university music programs.
Additionally, Dr. Snyder served as the Education & Engagement Coordinator for the Tallahassee Flute Club and performed with the flute club as well as the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra and Tallahassee Community Chorus. In 2016-2017, she toured with the Teatro Lirico D’Europa playing principal for Carmen and Turandot and second flute/piccolo for Aida.
Dr. Snyder has frequently presented research from her doctoral treatise, “Wil Offermans: The Pedagogy of a Contemporary Flutist-Composer” (2015) and has performed and/or presented at the National Flute Association Convention, Florida Flute Association Convention, Flute Society of Kentucky Festival, and Mid-South Flute Society Festival. In addition to her doctorate, she holds degrees from Western Kentucky University, B.M.E. and Middle Tennessee State University, M.A. Her former teachers include Eva Amsler, Deanna Little, and Heidi Alvarez.
