Introduction
Kiarra Young is a singer-songwriter hailing from Honolulu, HI. Infusing her music with a rich blend of R&B, soul, pop, and Hawaiian reggae, Kiarra draws from the diverse musical influences she grew up with. Her sound is inspired by artists like Tori Kelly, Sza, Keahiwai, and Kimie Miner.
Kiarra’s songwriting journey began in 2019 during her freshman year at college, and her passion for music deepened during the pandemic when she taught herself to play the ukulele and guitar. Music became a vital therapeutic outlet, helping her navigate mental health challenges and inspiring her to write freely.
Kiarra graduated from Occidental College in 2023 with a degree in music production and went on to earn her Master’s degree in music production and songwriting from Berklee College of Music in NYC this past year. Now, she is channeling her experiences and heritage into her debut EP, Ka Makana. This project, set to be released soon, reflects a transformative year in her life and serves as a heartfelt tribute to her Hawaiian roots.
