Introduction
Harpist Lauren Hayes has distinguished herself in the areas of contemporary music, chamber music, orchestral ensemble performance, and harp instruction. Lauren received her Master of Arts in Harp with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Music in 2016 (Karen Vaughan/Skaila Kanga), and is currently pursuing a Professional Diploma in Orchestral Studies at Roosevelt University (Lynn Williams). Hayes was awarded at Fellowship at the Tanglewood Music Center in 2018 and performs as an extra musician with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, harpist with the Chicago Composer’s Orchestra, Chamber Cartel, and with many orchestras in the Midwest and Southeast. Following her 2012 Carnegie Hall solo debut, Hayes was awarded third prize in the 2013 American Harp Society National Competition. Currently Hayes is a teaching assistant for the Chicago Harp Ensemble and previously served as teaching artist for the Urban Youth Harp Ensemble. Ms. Hayes holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Arizona (Dr. Carrol McLaughlin). Hayes is originally from Whitewater, WI.
