Introduction
Dr. Lauren Rae Monteiro is a freelance flutist and teacher in the Oklahoma City area. She has performed with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and Canterbury Voices, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Jackson (MI) Symphony Orchestra, Dearborn Symphony Orchestra, and Lebanon (OH) Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Monteiro has performed as soloist with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, and the Wright State University Chamber Orchestra, and has placed in both regional and national performance competitions. As a music educator, Dr. Monteiro has had the pleasure of teaching collegiate courses in Applied Flute, Aural Skills, Woodwind Methods, Music Appreciation, and Humanities. She is currently a faculty member of Murray State College and Oklahoma City Community College, and a music critic for The Oklahoman. Dr. Monteiro holds a Bachelor of Music from Michigan State University, a Master of Music from Wright State University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the University of Oklahoma.
