Bass

Introduction

Originally from Minnesota, Lindsay Bobyak received her Masters in Double Bass Performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in May 2017. She also holds a Bachelors in Performance and an Associates in String Instrument Technology from the Jacobs School. She has had the privilege of studying with many eminent teachers such as Jim Clute, Christopher Brown, Bruce Bransby, and Craig Brown. She is especially grateful for the amount of time she has spent studying with Kurt Muroki while earning her degrees from Indiana University.

She has also attended several summer music festivals including the Orford Music Academy, the Brevard Music Festival, the Indiana University Summer Music Series, and the Aspen Music Festival and School. She was the Associate Principal bassist in the Muncie Symphony Orchestra and Bloomington Symphony Orchestra during her time in Indiana.

In addition to performing, Lindsay is very involved in education and community outreach through music. Her interest in pedagogy was first sparked by taking a few courses at IU with Dr. Brenda Brenner and Lawrence Hurst and led to her pursuing teaching younger violin students at a local elementary school. In the Summer of 2016 she was accepted as a MusAid Fellow and traveled to El Salvador to work with their El Sistema school system during a summer workshop. As an avid traveler, she is excited to pursue her interests further in upcoming international collaborations and educational opportunities. Lindsay currently lives in Carbondale, Colorado and is working with ArtistYear, a year long fellowship serving in the Roaring Fork Valley. In addition to her musical interests, Lindsay is an avid cyclist.
