Flute

Introduction

Driven by a passion for flute performance and pedagogy, Madison Booth is an engaging performer and teacher that has performed a wide range of music from classics such as J.S. Bach to modern composers like Blaz Pucihar and Valerie Coleman. She was featured as a soloist with the Treasure Valley Symphony Orchestra of Ontario, Oregon in 2018 in which she performed Antonio Vivaldi’s Concerto for Flautino, RV 443. Alongside her solo performances, Madison Booth has performed with various university wind ensembles and symphony orchestras while attending school.

Madison has also participated in several competitive events. In 2017, she won First Prize in the Montana Flute Association Young Artist Competition. That same year, she was selected to be an alternate performer for the National Flute Association’s Masterclass Performer’s Competition. In 2019, she performed as Principal Flute in the National Flute Association’s Collegiate Flute Choir. That same year, she won the Presser Scholar Award for her exceptional work as an undergraduate music student at Boise State University.

In addition to performing, Madison maintains a dynamic teaching presence in her community through her private flute studio, and her work in teaching sectionals and clinics at local schools. Madison taught various clinics at middle and high schools in the Boise, Idaho area for many years before moving to Champaign-Urbana, Illinois where she is currently based and maintains an active flute studio.

As a Master Artist and Co-Founder of Elevating Flutistry Flute Week, Madison presents an annual workshop for flutists of all ages and skill levels in Boise, Idaho with fellow Master Artist, Co-Founder, and private flute educator, Amanda Barro. During this week, Madison presented sessions on various musical and flute topics, and performed in the Elevating Flutistry Master Artist Recital. The inaugural Elevating Flutistry Flute Week took place in July 2021.

Madison is the creator and presenter of Confidence & Artistry: Overcoming Performance Anxiety, a workshop designed to help musicians explore and compartmentalize their performance anxiety through observation of sensations, emotions, and thoughts.

Madison has been selected for prestigious national internships with the College Music Society (2019-2020), the NAMM Show (2020), and the National Flute Association (2019).  A student of Jonathan Keeble and Nicole Molumby, Ms. Booth holds undergraduate degrees in Music Education and Flute Performance from Boise State University and will graduate from the University of Illinois with a Master of Music in Flute Performance in 2022.
