Introduction
Hello! My name is Morgan Bates, and I am a trumpeter and educator based in Eugene, Oregon. I currently hold positions of second trumpet with the Oregon Mozart Players, third trumpet with the Rogue Valley Symphony, second trumpet with the Oregon Brass Quintet, and member of the Eugene Difficult Music Ensemble. I am currently completing my M.M. in Performance and M.A. in Musicology at the University of Oregon. I have previously served as a graduate teaching fellow to the UO Trumpet Studio. As a performer, I specialize in orchestral, chamber, and contemporary/new music and am always seeking opportunities for collaboration within and outside of those areas. As an educator, I teach trumpet lessons to students of all ages and have experience teaching music theory, aural skills, and voice lessons. As performer and educator, I seek to create opportunities for critical engagement with all kinds of music making to build avenues for expression and empowerment. I specifically enjoy playing and studying music by historically underrepresented composers and collaborators, as well as bringing fresh ideas to traditional repertoire
If you have any questions about what I do or would like to work with me, please feel free to email or contact me via my website!
