Introduction
Renae Block received a BS in Music Education from West Chester University, PA (1990) and has been a professional educator and performer for over 34 years. In 2020 she received a full fellowship from the University of Delaware School of Music to pursue a master’s degree in flute performance as a student of Eileen Grycky, and graduated in December of 2022 with high honors. Her previous teachers include Lois Herbine, Emily Newbold and Phyllis Lippincott Dalton. She has also been fortunate to participate in master classes with Julius Baker, Alexa Still, Gary Schocker, Mary Karen Clardy, Erica Peel, Brook Ferguson and Patricia Surmon, and has had additional flute coaching sessions with Ronna Ayscue, Cindy Anne Broz and Eve Friedman. Aside from being the owner/director of The Evesham Flute Studio in NJ, Renae is a long-time board member and a past-president of The Flute Society of Greater Philadelphia.
Ms. Block enjoys performing in a wide variety of ensembles and genres, primarily classical and jazz. Forming a partnership in 2020 with pianist Linda Henderson, the Block/Henderson Duo performs throughout the greater Philadelphia region, often championing the music of female composers for this pairing.
