Introduction
Hi! My name is Samantha Winkler and I am a professional teacher and performer originally from Tomball, TX. I graduated from the University of Houston in May with my Bachelor’s in Clarinet Performance and Minor in Creative Work at the Honors College, with plans to pursue my Master’s in Clarinet Performance at Northwestern University in 2021. I have experience performing in both very unique venues (such as oustide a nursing home, and in a museum!) and traditional stage settings. My accolades include finishing as a semi-finalist in the 2019 Jan and Beattie Wood Concerto Competition, becoming a Prize Winner at the 2018 Buffet Crampon Student Competition, and securing elite spots in Master’s programs at Eastman, Northwestern, Carnegie Mellon, The Glenn Gould School, and Indiana University. I also have experience as an ensemble musician, performing with the Brevard Opera Orchestra as principal clarinet in Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette, and acting as second clarinet in the Brevard Sinfonia’s performance of Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloe. Furthermore, I have taught both high school and middle school students at The Woodlands College Park High School and Wunderlich Intermediate in Houston, where all my students advanced band levels and witnessed great improvement. Please feel free to reach out if you are interested in taking lessons or need a clarinetist for a performance!
