Introduction

Sean Brennan is a violist and music educator currently living in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he serves as an orchestra director for Portage Public Schools. Mr. Brennan previously served as Director of Orchestras for Lakeview School District in Battle Creek. Mr. Brennan plays with orchestras throughout the Great Lakes Region, including the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra and the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra. He served as Principal Violist of the Altoona Symphony Orchestra for its 2014-15 season, and has been a Guest Principal Violist for the Holland Symphony Orchestra and the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician, Mr. Brennan has given three world premieres. Recently, he has frequently collaborated with violinist Andrew Sords, violinist Mari Sato (Cavani String Quartet), and pianist Elizabeth DeMio (Cleveland Institute of Music). He has recorded tracks for two pop albums by Voces8 lead tenor Blake Morgan (stage names Esto, Goodnight Mr. Max). As an educator, Mr. Brennan has been a guest clinician in classroom, youth orchestra, and summer camp environments in Michigan, Indiana, and Pennsylvania. Mr. Brennan holds a Bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University, where he studied with Igor Fedotov, and a Master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University, where he studied with David Harding. Mr. Brennan plays on a viola made by Bronek Cison in 2006 and a bow made by Bernard Millant in 1960.
