Introduction

Simona Mannu is a cellist and arranger, fascinated by a wide range of music genres that goes from the organic sounds of folk songs to the more experimental new classical textures, with a particular interest in collaborating with currently living composers.

Her constant thirst for new collaborations, moved her to London from Italy in 2009, where she had the chance to approach with various music scenes. Some experiences include performances with the WOW Orchestra at Royal Festival Hall – Southbank Centre, under the artistic direction of conductor Jessica Cottis and comedian Sue Perkins, with the alternative rock quintet Phoria at Brighton Dome Corn Exchange, alongside the French singer-songwriter Kat May, collaborations with the film music composers Jack Edmonds and Thom Robson and performances with Collaborative Orchestra (Britain’s got Talent 2016).
Currently based between Leeds and London, Simona achieved a BA (Classical) at Leeds College of Music – from whom she received a Scholarship in 2014 – where more opportunities came along, including performances with Venezuelan conductor Natalia Luis-Bassa and with the ex leader of English duo Soft Cell, Marc Almond.
